A Critical edition has a double dating system where you use the date of the original text and the date of the edition, separated by a slash.
Example:
Shelley (1818/2012) states that...
OR
... (Shelley, 1818/2012).
Last name, Initial(s). (Year). Book title (Editor, Ed.; edition). Publisher. DOI (if available) (Date original work published).
Example
