Note: Use this when the part of the website you are referring to is NOT produced by the organisation behind the website.

Use this when the part of the website you are referring to has a named person as an author, for example a freely available image on a Creative Commons website.

 

Author(s) (of image/table/figure etc). 

Title (of image/table/figure etc). 

[Type of medium using lowercase letters].   e.g. [x-ray].

In: Title of website if available/applicable e.g. Flickr

Place of Publication: (if available)

Publisher; (if available)

Year of Publication

[cited year month day].

If you have adapted the image/chart/table in anyway, add [adapted] in square brackets at the end of the reference.

To highlight a Creative Commons licence, a supplemental note can be added to the end of the reference, listing the licence letters/numbers. Capital letter to start the note, full stop to complete. E.g. Reproduced using licence CC-O. 

Date of publication not given – If the date of copyright can be found, use that, and place a ‘c’ in front the date, e.g. c1955. If you are able to estimate or infer the date, enter the year followed by a ‘?’ in square brackets, e.g. [1999?]. If no date can be found or estimated, use [date unknown].

If no author can be identified, start with the title of the image.
