Important: EBSCO Databases New Interface / Pwysig: Rhyngwyneb Newydd Cronfeydd Data EBSCO

Coming on Tuesday 2nd December, The EBSCO database interface is getting a new look. The new design will have improved accessibility features, including better compatibility with screen readers. EBSCO databases gives you access to a wide range of content from e-books and articles from journals to conference papers and news articles from leading information providers. EBSCO provides key databases such as CINAHL, Medline and APA PsycINFO. Some more key features you can utilise are search results are now organized into tabs, such as "All Results," "Evidence-Based Care Sheets," "Quick Lessons," and "Videos," allowing you to easily navigate through different types of content. You can now add up to 12 different search bars in a single advanced search, enhancing the ability to refine searches, and the Natural Language option allows you to type questions or statements, making searches more intuitive. For anyone who already uses EBSCO and has any saved items, there are a few things to check and prepare for to ensure a smooth transition: 1. Saved Searches - Any saved searches you have will automatically move to the new interface when you log in. You don’t need to worry about these! 2. Journal and Search Alerts - Unfortunately, your journal alerts won’t transfer automatically. Before the change, make sure to note down which journals you’ve set alerts for (you can screenshot them or copy and paste them into a document). You’ll need to re-create these alerts once you’re in the new interface. 3. Custom Folders - If you’ve created custom folders to organize your saved articles, these won’t automatically carry over to the new interface. Introducing Library Skills Hours

We are running a new scheme until the end of term called Library Skills Hours. Similar to how your personal mentors and lecturers have office hours, a Senior Library Officer will be available at set times for you to drop in either in-person or over Zoom to pick their brains. We’re excited to help students in a face-to-face capacity whilst also being able to connect with you online wherever you are at the time. Whether you are an individual with an enquiry, or a group of course mates with similar questions, our library officers’ two-hour sessions can help you with: Literature searchingEvaluating sourcesFinding specialist information Referencingand more Where some enquiries don’t require a full appointment, this allows you the opportunity to get a quick answer from your subject specialists, with no booking required. 5 Days of Library, Day 5: Here to help - Library support to help you succeed

Welcome to Day 5 of 5 Days of Library! Today we’re going to let you know about the support available to you from the library, including the staff who are here to help. Friendly staff Libraries and Collections staff are the first point of contact for all your library enquiries. You’ll find them at the Information Desk during staffed hours or you can contact the library by phone, email or chat. Let us know if you have any comments or questions!
