We are excited to introduce our brand-new version of the Swansea University Library Guides. Since September 2023, our project team of three subject librarians have been hard at work crafting a fresh, user-friendly layout for all subject guides, designed with student feedback at the core.

Since the final round of UX testing was completed in May 2024, our team have put the finishing touches on the new library guides, and the updated version of the resource is now available for students to start using straight away.

What are Library Guides?

  • Library Guides are your one-stop digital student portal for accessing library support and exclusive resources.
  • Library Guides are subject-specific, tailored information webpages that show students how to find, search, and critique literature—all in one place. LibGuides have been created by your librarians to help support students, staff, and researchers in using the library and finding subject resources.

What’s new?

  • Improved subject specific resources.
  • Upgraded mobile friendly interface.
  • New A-Z list of all available databases, searchable by your subject
  • Helpful (and search friendly!) FAQ database
  • Improved 24/7 Chatbot to guide you through resources and tutorials.
  • Navigation Highlight on our specialist archives collections – The Richard Burton Archives and the South Wales Miner’s Library. Explore some of the hidden voices in the universities and wider community’s history.

The new and improved Library Guides are designed to make your student experience with our libraries easier. All efforts have been made to streamline the guides and improve their usability and layout. Along with these improvements, the number of available Library Guides will largely remain the same, and no valuable resources have been compromised in the update.

Whether you’re searching for specific literature, learning to analyse sources, or trying to navigate the library’s vast subject databases, our new Library Guides are here to help you.
