Electronic resources, whether they are ebooks or journal archive back runs are often now sold in packages or bundles. The way they are sold can vary. Sometimes we pick titles from a list and only purchase those. With others, you purchase the whole package which means you have the titles you want to buy as well as others chosen by the publisher for inclusion. This is now becoming the predominant model for purchasing.
The packages listed below have been purchased and added to stock.
Embase is a biomedical and pharmacological database with access to more than 37 million records including articles from more than 8,100 journals published world-wide.
From economics and politics to literature and philosophy, Oxford Handbooks covers a wide range of subjects across the humanities, social sciences, sciences, and law.
Packages provide access to targeted content that can enrich subject areas. They can be obtained on a subscription or one-time purchase basis. They attract higher costs than individual journal subscriptions and, where possible, the library will seek to acquire packages in perpetuity as a one-time purchase. Request for new packages need to consider carefully if they provide value for money.
CAVEAT: The titles associated with a package may vary over time as journal titles can change publisher or as publishers remove titles from their packages. This is outside of the Library's control. If we are notified of content changes, we will endeavour to check if the removed content is on a reading list. However, we are not able to tell if it is being used for background or research purposes. Please contact us if material you have previously accessed suddenly becomes unavailable.
