Most of the books used for the study of American Studies are located on Level 2 West and Level 3 East of the Library and Information Centre (LIC).  The main classmarks for these books are E, F and PS.

Most American History journals (in print form) can be found in the range E-F on Level 2 West.  American literature journals can be found at PS on Level 3 East.

To find where the book you need is located, use iFind, our library catalogue.  There is a guide to iFind at the bottom of this section and video guides on the 'Getting Started' page. We have also attached a guide on navigating the library to find your books.

Using iFind

When searching iFind for a specific book we recommend using the author's surname and one or two key words from the title

eBooks

Most of our e-books can be found via iFind. Many of our ebooks are available via Proquest,VLeBooks and EBSCO. These tabs will tell you a little bit more about key book databases. To login, use your 6 digit student number as the username and your usual password. 

The VLeBooks platform provides a range of ebooks on a large number of topics. You will need to log in via Shibboleth using your Swansea University username and password.

Proquest eBooks Central contains over 100,000 ebooks in all subject areas.   You can read the books online or download them for up to 14 days.  You can also create your own online bookshelf for easy access to your favourite titles.
