Hello, we are the DACE Subject Support Team, and we are here to help you find all the information you need to support your studies.

The Miners' Library

At the South Wales Miners’ Library we pride ourselves in providing a friendly, flexible and efficient library experience in a relaxed environment.

To support part-time, distance and students on placement we offer a range of services to make your lives easier, such as:

  • Telephone and on-line book renewals
  • Ordering of materials (for example, books from the Library on the Singleton campus can be sent to the South Wales Miners’ Library or our branch library in Banwen and vice versa, without charge)
  • Postal loans
  • Advice and guidance on using the Library and our on-line resources
  • Answering queries by phone, email or in person
  • Help with assignment research and using IT
  • Book-box provision for community based classes
  • Quiet study areas

Banwen Library

Banwen Library is a branch of the South Wales Miners’ Library and is based at the DOVE Workshop, Banwen, 25 miles from Swansea in the Dulais Valley. This was opened in 1989 to support the pioneering Community University of the Valleys. The library was enlarged and refurbished in 1993 and 2002.

The library can be used by any Swansea University staff and students. Banwen Library is OPEN TO ALL, members of the public are most welcome to visit.

The Library is open every  Wednesday  9.30am - 3pm

DACE (Department of Adult and Continuing Education)

DACE provide flexible part-time learning opportunities for adults throughout the South West Wales region ranging from one-off lectures, taster sessions, accredited courses, Certificates, Diplomas to BA (Honours) Degrees. All are taught by friendly, expert Swansea University staff who strongly believe in the benefits of lifelong learning. They can also help you choose the right course and tell you about available financial support.
